Another 535 Kim’s day beckoned.
We left Voronezh at 8am but due to some logistics regarding fuel, wasted an hour at the fuel pump. There was nothing much to report on the trip And we reached Volgograd by 8 pm.
Considering we were only here for one night we were off to a city tour at 9pm.
Volgograd was known as Stalingrad and is home to the famous war in WWII. We took a tour of the city and the only stop was the war memorial. It is moving and unbelievable to see the sacrifices that the citizens gave to fight the nazis. This video shows a snapshot of the war.
The monuments and the memorial are just amazing.
About 1.1 million people died in the war and the city was decimated
Evening light added to the ambience. Great place for history buffs.
