Considering the visa process via Iran border could take time, the organizers decided to take a halt in Lankaran. First was the flag off at the city centre where the Indian Ambassador and the Indian embassy staff had arrived. It was great to see them.
After driving for 300kms only we stopped at this town. Lankaran was built on a swamp along the northern bank of the river bearing the town's name. There are remains of human settlements in the area dating back to the Neolithic period as well as ruins of fortified villages from the Bronze and Iron Ages.
Considering It is a small town and after a quick tour we were back in our hotel. The highlight over the last 2 days of driving in Azerbaijan has been the drive. We have been very well supported by the Azerbaijan Motor Association who escorted us through the entire ride.
Dinner was followed by some bollywood and kuthu dance and we danced to Jimmy Jimmy...you had to dance to this song while in this region. Tomorrow we head to Iran.
looks like you are having fun😃🚗
