Crossing Khardung La once is tough and due to Shayok overflowing at some parts, here was our second attempt in as many days. Very lucky. We left Diskit at 7:15 am and had lovely roads for the next 65 kms.
We reached the peak soon without much drama. Khardung La crossing can be treacherous due to many reasons - traffic jam or landslides or accidents that means you are stuck in high altitude. Luckily for us our fire to Leh was very uneventful; thank god for that.
Reached our home stay in Leh in 5 hours which is great time. After a lunch nearby and break in the afternoon we left for the Leh palace and market. After all how can u come to Leh and not shop??
Tomorrow we bid adieu to Ladakh as we begin our descent to Keylong enroute Manali. We expect to cross another famous pass - Rohtang Pass.
